SAULT STE. MARIE, ON, Aug. 6 /CNW/ - Tonight's LOTTO 6/49 draw is
offering the third largest jackpot in Canadian history estimated at
$43 million! The largest Canadian jackpot is $54,294,712, which was won with a
single ticket in Western Canada on October 26, 2005. Currently, the second
largest Canadian jackpot is $43,222,344, which was equally shared among four
winning tickets on August 12, 2006. Players can purchase tickets for tonight's
draw at authorized OLG retailers until 9 p.m.
Ontarians continue to win often, and win big with LOTTO 6/49 - like
Kevin Frost of Ottawa - who claimed $7,379,200 from the July 16 draw. Since
LOTTO 6/49 was launched in June 1982, Ontario players have won more than
$8.3 billion in prizes, including 1,128 jackpot wins.
Consumers are reminded that lottery retailers are not allowed to validate
a ticket unless the customer has signed it. Signature boxes located on the
front of all on-line lottery tickets, such as LOTTO 6/49, make it easier for
customers to remember to sign their tickets at the time of purchase.
Convenient signature boxes are now also being added to OLG INSTANT tickets.
Group players should always identify each group member with a signature
on group play forms to confirm their contribution. Helpful Group Play forms
are available at www.OLG.ca.
It is a provincial offence, punishable by fines, to sell OLG lottery
tickets to anyone under 18 years of age.
OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games
and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, Casinos, Slots, and Resort
Casinos have generated more than $23 billion for the benefit of the Province
of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport,
recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority
programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities
and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
