Local learning powering local foods - the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention

ST. CATHARINES, ON, Feb. 20 /CNW/ - It is the show for Ontario growers
run by the growers. It is the convention where farmers get to
learn/discuss/debate topics that directly relate to how they make a living.
From growers and suppliers to government experts and grower associations,
you'll find it all at Canada's premier horticultural event which opens today
at Brock University. With the growing local food movement and the increasing
responsibilities of food safety from field to table, the issues of
traceability and local food will be front and centre.
Join farmers from across Ontario in two days of informative speaker
sessions and demonstrations, providing producers with the latest, cutting-edge
information from around the province, across the country and throughout the
world. Experts will share the latest developments on topics such as local food
trends, traceability issues, food safety, organic crop production, direct farm
sales, the growth of farmers' markets as well as other issues. The convention
provides a great opportunity to experience and learn about horticulture from
the perspective of the hard-working people that produce it, Ontario farmers.
