Local Housing Companies tee off for Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, ON, June 26 /CNW/ - Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay
delightfully announced today a $50,000 donation from the committee members of
the Charity Golf Classic. The money has been raised over a three year period
with the tournament taking place annually. The money will go to Habitat for
Humanity's house build scheduled for 2008 on Ontario Street.
Dan Tambelyn, who sits on the committee says, "Habitat for Humanity does
great things for the less fortunate families living in the community of
Thunder Bay. Working with them to raise money to build a house for a family in
need is very fulfilling. Most of the people that sit on the committee work or
own companies in the house building industry. We feel that Habitat for
Humanity is a good fit in our fundraising initiatives."
Diane Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay,
will be accepting the cheque tonight at the Charity Golf Classic dinner gala,
held on site at Whitewater Golf Club. "It is wonderful to see the housing,
realty and construction industries in Thunder Bay come together to raise funds
to build a home for a Thunder Bay family who would not otherwise be able to
afford to own a home. The family is offered a hand up by Habitat for Humanity
and must pay an interest free mortgage that is geared to their income." says
The organizing committee consists of Canada Mortgage and Housing, Thunder
Bay Home Builders Association, Thunder Bay Real Estate Board, Construction
Association of Thunder Bay; Canadian Condominium Institute, Northwestern
Ontario Chapter; Appraisal Institute of Canada, Thunder Bay Chapter,
Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario. For more information on ways
