Lindal Cedar Homes Names Michael Harris President and COO

Family Entrusts Presidency to Non-Family Member for the First Time and
    Embraces Transformational Change

SEATTLE, Aug. 8 /CNW/ -- Lindal Cedar Homes, the original and largest
manufacturer of custom cedar homes in the world, has named Michael Harris as
president and COO, effective September 1. Founded in 1945 by Sir Walter
Lindal, the company serves over 500 clients a year in North America and
Robert W. Lindal, the eldest son of the founder, will remain chairman and
CEO of the company. He said, "Michael Harris's background, expertise,
education and point of view are an extraordinary fit for our family business
and to introduce the company to innovative marketing initiatives."
Until a year ago, Harris was president and CEO of Deck House, Inc. He
joined that firm in 1975 after receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in
architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and in over 31
years, advanced from sales representative to the top job. He was president and
CEO for 16 years.
Lindal continued, "As our strategic planning consultant since the fall,
Michael has helped Lindal identify strategies and tactics. We've added a
Harvard University Graduate School of Design-trained creative director, a
registered architect who will introduce fresh, new models that merge Lindal's
signature post and beam building system with cutting edge design concepts, and
who will work with homebuyers who want one-of-a-kind homes."
Harris noted, "People want to personalize their living environments and
most need guidance, which Lindal's team of experts and network of 180 dealers
worldwide can do in an efficient, systematic way. I've counted some 3,000+
decisions needed to build a custom home. If we use Lindal expertise to
simplify the procedure and propose time-tested options, our seamless process
will become an ideal solution for many more homebuyers. We'll also refine how
we communicate to our customers Lindal's invaluable contributions to the home
building industry."
