LONDON, ON, June 14 /CNW/ - Libro Financial Group and Sundance Balloons
are pleased to announce Libro's title sponsorship of the 2007 Libro London
Balloon Festival. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the festival, which
will be held over the August long weekend in Harris Park in London.
"We're proud to sponsor the Libro London Balloon Festival, and to be
entering a long term partnership with Sundance Balloons," says Harry Joosten,
Vice President Owner Relations at Libro. "It's a great annual event that draws
families from across our region. The sponsorship is an excellent fit with what
we're trying to accomplish as a community credit union: ensuring strong and
vibrant communities for the families of our customer-owners - it's just one of
the ways we help people own their lives. It's anticipated that the 2007
festival will attract 75,000 - 125,000 visitors from southern Ontario, eastern
Michigan and western New York.
"We're also delighted about the Libro balloon which will fly during the
festival and daily during the summer months."
"From its humble beginnings in 1983, the London Balloon Festival has
grown to be one of the most significant events in southwestern Ontario as well
as being the oldest and longest running balloon festival in Canada," says
Barry McGonigle, President of Sundance Balloons and the Libro London Balloon
Festival. "It is truly an honour to have Libro Financial Group and its owners
join our team. Their focus is regional and on families and children just like
ours is. We look forward to growing the festival to 'new heights' and
providing great family entertainment for years to come."
A portion of proceeds from the 2007 Libro London Balloon Festival will be
directed to the Children's Health Foundation in support of the Children's
Hospital of Western Ontario.
"The Libro London Balloon Festival will be a great family event with
thousands of people making a visit to Harris Park over the August long
weekend. Many families however, won't be able to enjoy the Festival because
they are at Children's Hospital alongside their child," says Debbie Comuzzi,
President & CEO of the Children's Health Foundation. "It is heartwarming and
gratifying to know that the organizers of this event and Libro Financial Group
as the title sponsor, will direct a portion of proceeds from the weekend to
support Children's Hospital of Western Ontario."
This year's festival runs from Thursday, August 2nd to Monday, August 6th
and will host 20 hot air balloon teams from across North America. Crowd
favourites Tyrone the T-Rex, Felix the Cat, the Canadian Flag and Maple Leaf
specially shaped balloons will make an appearance in the London sky. The Libro
Financial Group balloon will also make its festival debut. There will be daily
hot air balloon launches and rides.
The festival also includes a midway and lots of live entertainment for
both children and adults. To date, the following acts have been booked: Jeff
Healey Band and Kim Mitchell (103.9 The Hawk Concert Series, Friday, August
3), Bobnoxious and Finger Eleven (FM96 Rocks Concert Series, Saturday, August
