Less than a week to go! The Canadian Coffee & Tea Show hits Vancouver this Sunday

TORONTO, Sept. 28, 2011 /CNW/ - Get ready. The Canadian Coffee & Tea Show, Canada's top event for the coffee, tea and dessert industry, is coming to Vancouver. The excitement takes place over two jam-packed days - October 2 and 3 -- at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

This comprehensive trade show will highlight today's hot coffee and tea trends and feature the latest equipment, services and products from leading regional, national and global suppliers. The show offers an extensive educational program conducted by industry experts and geared to new entrepreneurs, independents and chain operators alike.

Educational sessions will feature stimulating seminars on how to:

  • Improve business results
  • Build sustainable coffee and tea programs
  • Profit from desserts and baked goods in your café
  • Position yourself against your competition

Not only does The Canadian Coffee & Tea show feature the industry's best educational sessions and top trade show floor, but it also boasts the most exciting competitions in the country.

Here's a taster of the competitions that will showcase Canada's top talent going for the gold:

The Canadian Barista Championships

The top three finalists from four regional barista competitions come together at the Canadian National Barista Championship to demonstrate the art of making the perfect espresso drinks. The eventual winner of the Canadian National Championship will represent Canada at the 2012 World Barista Championship.

Latte Art Throw Down

Throughout the Canadian Barista Championship, So Nice Barista Series Soy will bring you an informal Latte Art Throw Down. Each competitor will be asked to make two lattes, one using So Nice Barista Series and one using milk. $500 will be awarded to the person with the highest combined milk and soy score.

Canadian Cup Tasters Championship

The Canadian Cup Tasters Championship, sponsored by Transcend, is an exciting competition, now in its second year at The Coffee and Tea Show. The winner will be crowned The Canadian Cup Taster Champion and will walk away with an armload of great prizes as well as the right to compete at The 2012 World Cup Tasters Championship.

So You Think You Can Be a Tea Sommelier

The Tea Association of Canada is challenging all attendees of The 2011 Coffee & Tea Show to showcase their abilities in a blind tea-tasting competition. On October 3rd, participants will taste 10 teas and determine both the country of origin and the tea type. Anyone who answers all 10 teas correctly will win an honorary one-year membership at the Tea Association of Canada.

Coffee & Tea Cocktail Competition

Sponsored by Spirits Canada, the Coffee & Tea Cocktail Competition will take place on October 2, 2011, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Vancouver Convention Centre. A total of six competitors will have the opportunity to feature their finest cocktail creations, using a base of coffee or tea, in front of a panel of three expert judges.
