In the spirit of the 1943 Conference of Québec with Churchill, Roosevelt
and Mackenzie King, the Conférences de Québec will hopefully highlight current
trends of thought while providing citizens of the Old Capital with
opportunities to debate the major issues facing the today's world. The format
put forward fosters the sharing of opinions and two-way communication.
Attendees of this first conference will reflect on the current economic
crisis felt around the world and described by Mr. Ward in the following terms:
