SPEARFISH, SD, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - A large crowd of bikers showed up in the
rain and took over Main Street in the rural community of Hubbard, Iowa, on
August 15, to show their support for this year's Good Turn Trike recipient,
Chad Pierson. Lehman Trikes along with Timm's Trikes of St. Charles, MN,
happily presented Chad with his newly converted 2004 Harley-Davidson Electra
Glide trike as part of Lehman's annual Good Turn Trike program. Chad, who was
diagnosed with Parkinson's two years ago, was nominated by family and friends
because balance was becoming an issue while riding on two wheels.
"To lose Chad as a riding buddy would be an enormous loss to the many
motorcycle groups and organizations he is involved with," stated Curt Bunte, a
close friend of Chad's, "Motorcycling is everything to him and he goes above
and beyond for so many people, we felt that it was now Chad's turn to have
something good happen to him."
Lehman Trikes chose Chad among many applicants because of his constant
positive and philanthropic nature, despite the circumstances he lives with.
"This isn't about Lehman Trikes, it's about Chad," said Clay Strilchuk,
National Sales Manager for Lehman, "We couldn't be more happy or humbled to do
our part to help him continue to keep riding. Motorcycle riders are among the
most generous and charitable people in the world, and it is our privilege to
be able to recognize that and give something back."
Chad has played a large and important role with his riding group, "The
Lost Cause". These riders not only share a passion for motorcycles, they also
get together regularly to donate their own time and resources to help others
in need. In the few short years that the group has been established, they have
already helped approximately 25 individuals through charity auctions, cash
donations, and an abundance of time. Through it all, Chad has been one of the
most instrumental people in the group, constantly pushing them to do as much
charity work as possible.
In accepting the trike, Chad offered an emotional "thank-you" to everyone
who showed up to celebrate the day. "I would just like to thank everyone who
helped make this happen," said Chad, "this is freedom."
The Good Turn Trike is a program sponsored by Lehman Trikes that converts
the recipient's motorcycle into a trike. The recipient is a person that,
despite physical or financial means, continues to make a positive impact in
the lives of others and illustrates the program's motto of "one good turn
deserves another". Applications are accepted throughout the year and are
available at Lehman dealerships and the Lehman Trikes website,
