Legal proceedings of the Chief Electoral Officer under the Act respecting School Elections - A guilty verdict is handed down

QUEBEC, Feb. 6 /CNW Telbec/ - Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer of
Québec, wishes to inform the public that a guilty verdict was handed down in a
case concerning a violation of the Act respecting School Elections.
Following the November 4, 2007 election, Stéphanie Baby, in her capacity
as an authorized candidate, failed to submit her return of election expenses
and her financial report to the Director General of the Commission scolaire de
la Seigneurie-des-Milles-Iles within the deadline prescribed by the Act. To
comply with sections 209 and 209.4 of the Act respecting School Elections, she
should have submitted her return and report by February 2, 2008 at the latest.
On January 19, 2009, at the end of the default hearing, Ms. Baby was
found guilty of the charge brought against her. The judge ordered her to pay a
$250 fine, plus expenses.
