TORONTO, June 28 /CNW/ - In accordance with the federal Holidays Act,
LCBO stores will observe their regular Sunday hours on July 1 but close on
Monday, July 2, 2007 for the Canada Day holiday.
The federal Holidays Act establishes observance of Canada Day. It states
that when July 1 falls on a Sunday, then July 2 is the legal holiday.
Some LCBO agency stores will observe their normal hours of business on
July 2. Agency stores are locally-owned retail establishments that contract
with the LCBO to sell beverage alcohol along with other products in
communities that are too small to support LCBO stores.
Most LCBO stores in cottage and resort areas have extended evening hours
on Fridays during the summer months. In addition, the LCBO has opened a number
of seasonal stores in these areas, which will operate in most cases until
Labour Day weekend.
Store staff can provide tips and recipes to help hosts entertain
responsibly during the Canada Day weekend and other long weekends so that
guests get home safely. Information about responsible party planning is also
available on the LCBO website at
Customers should check with their local LCBO store or contact the
toll-free, bilingual LCBO Infoline at 1-800-ONT-LCBO (668-5226) (or
firstname.lastname@example.org) for individual store hours. In Toronto, call 416 365-5900.
The TTY number for the deaf and hearing impaired is 416 864-6898 or
1-800-361-3291. The LCBO Infoline and Customer Service Department will be
closed on July 1 and July 2.
Over the long weekend, the LCBO reminds customers to please drink
responsibly and to never consume alcohol when driving.
