Lake Isle resident is Alberta's first PAYDAY top prize winner!

ST. ALBERT, AB, April 30 /CNW/ - Ever since PAYDAY debuted at the end of
March, lottery players in the Prairie Provinces and Territories have been
asking themselves which Top Prize payment option they would choose if they
were lucky enough to win - $1,000 A Week For Life, or a single payment of
$675,000. And now, four draws into the new weekly lottery game, Peter Osredkar
is the first Albertan to settle on a final answer to that question. The Lake
Isle(*) resident won the PAYDAY Top Prize on last Thursday's draw, and he
selected the $675,000 cash option.
For each $2 play, PAYDAY players pick four numbers from 1 to 77 by either
Quick Pick or Selection Slip. In addition to their first Selection, players
receive 14 more four-number Quick Pick Selections free - for a total of 15
Selections. One set of four winning numbers is drawn, and players compare the
winning numbers to the Selections appearing under the $1,000 A Week For Life,
$50,000, $20,000 and $1,000 prize categories on their ticket. Subsidiary
prizes of $25 and $2 are also available for players matching three of four or
two of four winning numbers in any Selection.
Peter has played PAYDAY since it first launched, and he bought three $5
Quick Pick PAYDAY tickets for the April 26th draw - each containing 30
Selections and one EXTRA 'ENTERED' - from IDA Wabamun Prescription Centre,
located at 5123-52nd Street in the nearby community of Wabamun.
The 46-year-old labourer discovered his win the day after the draw when
he had his tickets checked at another Lottery Ticket Centre. "The clerk who
checked the ticket called her manager over, and he told me that I had won
$1,000 A Week For Life," Peter remembered. One of his Selections in the $1,000
A Week For Life category exactly matched all four winning numbers drawn - 5,
6, 19 and 33 - to win the Top Prize. "I phoned my mom to tell her, and she was
excited and a little shocked!" he added.
"I was pretty excited in the store, and I'm very happy!" the single man
exclaimed. "I've always hoped to win the lottery, and now I have!" Having
chosen to receive the single payment of $675,000, Peter added that he plans to
invest the majority of his win, but he also plans to take a trip to Cuba next
