MONTREAL, Aug. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Parc Jean-Drapeau was awash in a festive
atmosphere this past weekend. 266,000 visitors took part in La Fête des
Enfants celebrations. Free access to the Ile Sainte-Hélène Aquatic Complex,
the Biosphère facilities and the Stewart Museum, the island park partners in
La Fête, as well as to the Botanical Garden, Insectarium and Biodôme, three of
Montréal's Nature Museums, also played a part in the event's success. Families
from Montréal and elsewhere responded in droves to La Fête organizers'
invitation, many taking advantage of public transit facilities provided free
of charge by the Société de transport de Montréal - La Fête's official
Under radiant sunshine, La Fête welcomed a record number of visitors to
its ninth edition. Same deal at the Biosphère where 26,303 people visited the
facilities over the weekend, a record crowd for this park's island partner.
François-Etienne Paré, the event's spokesperson for three years running, was
delighted: "Families in Greater Montréal have answered the call and been
carried away by the magic of La Fête des enfants. They've come out to discover
Parc Jean-Drapeau and are thrilled by the new backdrop for La Fête. They've
taken advantage of it to discover all kinds of activities, as is traditional
for this event, in a wonderfully festive atmosphere."
