Personal support programs, networks cited in selection
TORONTO, Nov. 6 /CNW/ - For the 5th time, KPMG LLP has been named one of
Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2008 in Mediacorp's survey of 1,800
organizations, representing over 90 industries and sectors across the country.
Mediacorp's media partner the Toronto Star also honoured the professional
services firm by naming it one of the Greater Toronto Area's Top 50 Employers.
"We strive to offer innovative programs and benefits that meet the needs
of our people," said Beth Wilson, Chief Human Resources Officer, KPMG LLP.
"KPMG owes its success to our people and attracting and retaining great people
is key to our future growth. Being named a Top Employer indicates we are on
the right path."
KPMG was recognized for its progressive personal support programs,
including: flexible work hours; subsidized backup child and elder care (80
hours); benefits and grants for adoption ($20,000); seven paid personal days
off each year; education and fitness programs; Community Care initiatives; and
a concierge service, which orders tickets, books cleaning services, or runs
errands for employees.
Canada's Top 100 Employers survey, commissioned by Maclean's magazine, is
not a ranking, but rather an in-depth analysis of human resource trends in
Canada's public and private sectors. Companies were evaluated in the following
areas: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health; financial and
family benefits; vacation and time-off; employee communications; performance
management; and training and skills development. In addition to these
criteria, Mediacorp also examined each employer's charitable efforts and
involvement in the community.
