TORONTO, June 24 /CNW/ - From the lumber yards of Baden to public office,
Kitchener mayor Carl Zehr exemplifies community service.
Born and raised in Baden, Carl Zehr spent his summer vacations driving
lumber trucks to and from Kitchener. "Little did I know what I would be doing
in Kitchener some 40 years later," says Carl, reflecting on his early days. He
learned from an early age that being involved and giving back to the community
is key to living a fulfilling life, and it was these values that encouraged
him to enter the political realm.
In "Public Interest: A study of three CGAs in positions of political
prominence," Carl discusses his ascendance to the status of Ontario's
second-longest serving mayor. A certified general accountant (CGA) by
training, Carl's profile is accompanied by profiles of fellow CGA politicians
Yasmin Ratansi, Ontario Liberal MP for Don Valley East, and Bruce Crozier,
Liberal MPP for Essex.
