Kids learn safety tips and get a free ride at GO KidSummer this Thursday, August 9

    TORONTO, Aug. 9, 2007 /CNW/ - All aboard! On Thursday, August 9, a GO
Train is scheduled to take hundreds of kids on an exciting train ride from
Union Station to Exhibition Place. This free excursion is part of GO's
KidSummer day, an event that makes learning about rail safety fun.
Registration for GO KidSummer is at 10:00 a.m. in the GO Transit
concourse at Union Station, on Bay St. south of Front St. in downtown Toronto.
While waiting to board the train, kids and caregivers can look at GO's
miniature safety village and hang out with cuddly mascot GO Bear.
At 10:30 a.m. everyone will board a GO Train and ride to Exhibition
station, where GO's transit enforcement officers will give a safety
presentation on the dangers of trespassing and playing near trains or on
tracks.
After the presentation, kids will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities
that include exploring a GO Transit bus, face-painting and dancing. A healthy
lunch will also be served, courtesy of Bombardier Transportation.
The event comes to a close at noon as everyone hops back on a GO Train to
Union Station. It's a great way for GO to educate the commuters of tomorrow
about rail safety and for kids to experience the thrill of a train ride - a
first for many of them. GO KidSummer is always enjoyed by those who attend.
