All new Forte will replace Spectra
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 11 /CNW/ - In yet another example of the sweeping
changes to Kia's product line up, Kia Canada unveiled the all new Forte sedan
today at the 2009 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. The latest
expression of Kia's new design and look, the Forte sedan will replace the
current Spectra when it arrives in Canadian dealerships in April 2009.
Developed at Kia's new design centre in Irvine, California, the design
team led by Peter Schreyer has given the new Forte a strong presence, creating
a look and feel that is distinct and advances Kia's new design language.
"The new Forte further illustrates Kia's focus on creating vehicles that
inspire passion and excitement in our customers", says Brian Kim, National
Manager Product Planning. "Inside and out, the new Forte continues the ongoing
complete regeneration of our product line, with high quality vehicles that are
fun to drive and own."
The new Forte will offer something for just about everyone, starting with
the 2.0 litre LX linked to a 5 speed manual transmission, and available 4
speed automatic. Producing 157 horsepower and 144 foot-pounds of torque, the
versatile and efficient four cylinder engine has enough power convey driver
and passengers with comfort and confidence. All Forte sedans will come
standard with a wealth of features, including six airbags, four wheel disc
brakes with ABS, steering wheel mounted audio controls, voice activated
Bluetooth(R) hands-free connectivity, AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with AUX and USB
input ports, heated outside power mirrors, power locks, and windows. The LX
"Plus" adds a 5 speed automatic transmission, manual air conditioning and
keyless entry with panic feature.
Moving up to the Forte 2.0L EX adds even more value with 16" alloy
wheels, air conditioning, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), integrated turn
signals on the outside mirrors, heated seats, steering wheel mounted cruise
control, exterior chrome door handles and a telescoping steering wheel. An
optional power tilting and sliding sunroof is also available in the 2.0L EX
with manual and automatic transmissions.
The hot ticket will come in the form of the sporty Forte 2.4 litre SX,
available with a five speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual
transmission. This package includes a 174 horsepower four cylinder generating
169 foot-pounds of torque, adding an extra level of excitement to customers
seeking to add a little more fun to their commutes. A sport tuned suspension
in concert with 17 inch wheels enhances handling and cornering ability. The SX
trim package further includes automatic climate control, Supervision
instrument cluster, leather seats with leather wrapped steering wheel and
shift knob, alloy sport pedals, fog lights and a Sirius satellite radio with a
free three month subscription, and much more.
