ONTARIO, March 20 /CNW Telbec/ - When Ontario residents put their 2007
War Amps key tags on their key rings this year, they will be helping child
amputees adopt the "Winner's Circle" philosophy. With key tags being mailed
out this week, War Amps CEO Cliff Chadderton explains.
"Our Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program is there from the start, providing
funding for artificial limbs, counseling, Seminars and programs like Matching
Mothers," Chadderton said. "Through CHAMP, youngsters learn to overcome their
amputations and live life to the fullest and, by doing so, they enter what we
call the Winner's Circle."
He notes that CHAMP has gained international recognition through film
festival awards, including recent ones at the Worldfest-Houston Film Festival
for Annae's Journey, the story of a young woman born without arms, a public
service message featuring Morgan, who wears three artificial limbs and whose
motto is "keep on trying," and Adam and the B.C. Lions, where the CFL and War
Amps team up to say "PLAYSAFE."
Since 1946, The War Amps has returned more than one million sets of keys,
and the service is more important than ever with the extremely high
replacement cost of electronic door openers and anti-theft devices. Each tag
has a confidentially coded number. Should the keys be lost, the finder need
only call the toll-free number on the back of the tag and the keys will be
returned to the owner by bonded courier.
The War Amps receives no government grants and is funded solely by public
support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service. For more information, or to
