TORONTO, May 19 /CNW/ - Ottawa says hello to TV's Jon Dore as the
Gemini-nominated comedian announced today performances at Yuk Yuk's from
Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23.
"Ottawa is my 37th favourite city," said Jon Dore.
An incredibly talented actor, and comedian, Jon Dore was recently
nominated for a 2008 Gemini Award for Best Individual Performance in a Comedy
Program or Series for The Jon Dore Television Show, was named Best Male
Stand-Up by Toronto weekly, NOW Magazine, and received the Canadian Comedy
Award for Best Writing in a TV Series. Recently, The Jon Dore Television Show
landed a U.S. broadcast deal with cutting-edge programming network, IFC.
Beginning August 2009, Seasons 1 and 2 will be available in more than 45
million U.S. homes.
Born in Ottawa, Jon honed his comedy skills doing stand-up on the
Canadian comedy club circuit. In 2003, Jon signed up as Canadian Idol's
irreverent correspondent, in which he delighted millions of viewers for
several seasons. He has appeared numerous times at the prestigious Just for
Laughs Festival in Montreal and Toronto, and in 2006, won Best Newcomer at the
Canadian Comedy Awards. He has also appeared at the Vancouver, Halifax,
Portland and DC comedy Festivals and starred in his own Comedy NOW! special.
