STAMFORD, CONN., August 7 /CNW/ - Towers Perrin, a global professional
services firm, announced that on September 30, 2007, John Goldsmith will
retire from the firm and step down as chairman of Towers Perrin Claytons. He
has held the position since 1986. Ross Howard, the current European Chief
Operating Officer for the firm's Reinsurance business, will assume this role.
In 1972, Mr. Goldsmith co-founded Denis M. Clayton, Ltd., which was
acquired by Towers Perrin in 2002. Under his leadership, Claytons has become a
preeminent broker for Lloyds, along with other international markets.
Over the past year, Mr. Goldsmith's primary focus has been on developing
new sales activity in North America, and he was instrumental in expanding the
firm's relationship with a number of major clients to include representation
in London by Towers Perrin Claytons.
"I look back most fondly on my nearly 35 years working at Claytons,
including the last 21 years as Chairman. I have been very fortunate to work
with a staff that epitomizes what is best in our industry," said Mr. Goldsmith

the future and thank him for his tremendous contributions throughout the
