IR magazine announces investor relations awards nominees

Analysts and investors identify the top IR teams in Canada

NEW YORK, Jan. 13 /CNW/ - The names are in! IR magazine is excited to announce the finalists in the IR Magazine Canada Awards 2011. On February 2, 2011, 25 Canadian companies and individuals will be announced as leading the IR community in categories ranging from best investor relations officer through best earnings calls and best crisis management; a further eight will take home awards for being the best in their sector. This annual awards event, which began in 1998, recognizes the Canadian investor relations teams that set the standard for communicating with shareholders across the country.

The event is held in association in with the Globe and Mail, and co-sponsored by Broadridge, Business Wire, Canadian Investor Relations Institute, Capital IQ, a Standard & Poor's business, CCR Solutions, CDS, CNW, Laurel Hill Advisory Group, Marketwire, NASDAQ OMX , NYSE Euronext, OTCQX, Phoenix Advisory Partners , The Works Design Communications and TMX Group.

XbInsight, IR magazine's research arm, works in conjunction with third-party research houses to identify the winners through our worldwide investor perception studies. This research series involves surveys of and interviews with analysts and investors to ascertain the relative strengths and weaknesses of the IR teams they deal with and discover their current concerns and preoccupations.

For the first time in 2011, IR magazine is collaborating with Ipreo as our exclusive research partner. We use contact data from Ipreo's BD Corporate for both the qualitative and quantitative elements of the survey. As in previous years, there was no predetermined list of companies from which to choose: respondents were free to nominate any company listed on a stock exchange and domiciled in Canada.

Since 1991, IR magazine has taken its renowned investor perception study around the world to markets as diverse as Brazil, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Nordic region, South Africa, Canada, the UK, continental Europe and the US.
