Invitation - Today at noon at BioContact Québec 2007 - Mr. Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade - Mr. Tom Finn, president of Global Health Care at Procter & Gamble

MONTREAL, Oct. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Martin Godbout, founder of BioContact
Quebec, is proud to announce the presence of Raymond Bachand, Minister of
Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade and of Tom Finn, president
of Global Health Care at Procter & Gamble. Both will be addressing the
participants and journalists in the Ballroom of the Château Frontenac, today
at noon.
Québec being ever more competitive in regards to innovation, the Minister
Raymond Bachand will speak of the advantages enjoyed by Québec, particularly
in the field of Biotechnologies, and of the progress of his government in
research and development.
As for Tom Finn, who has spent more than half of his 23 years at P&G
working in, leading and/or negotiating alliances and dedicated more than two
decades to building the organizational mindset and capabilities necessary to
sustain a portfolio of mutually beneficial alliances, will discuss some of the
lessons he learned along the way.
Under the theme "Focus on the Golden Anniversary, Not Just the Wedding -
10 Lessons Learned the Hard Way", Mr. Finn will reveal his secrets to
negotiating deals that motivate both parties to do what is best for the
alliance, secrets to getting a new partnership off to the right start, and
secrets to nurturing long-term success. Almost every pharmaceutical company at
least dabbles in alliances but P&G is so confident in its alliance
capabilities that it has made the strategic choice to exclusively license,
partner or acquire all of its new drug candidates from biotech and
pharmaceutical industry relationships to bring innovations to patients in
need. P&G executives will meet and explore opportunities with biotech leaders
engaged in the research and development of therapeutics at BioContact Quebec.
In addition to areas of proven expertise (Musculoskeletal, Gastrointestinal,
and Women's Health), P&G Pharmaceuticals Canada specifically seeks regional
opportunities to bring new therapies to market that are relevant for Canadian
patients in therapeutic areas where patients play an active role in managing
their health.
As part of his functions at Procter & Gamble, Mr. Finn has global
responsibility for the pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and OTC health care
business. In the past, he managed NA operations, worldwide strategic planning
and new business development for P&G Pharmaceuticals. Today, he oversees the
identification of all healthcare licensing and acquisition opportunities to
ensure long-term sustainable growth and alliance viability. Prior to his
appointment as President in May, 2007, one of Tom's major responsibilities was
to lead P&G Pharmaceuticals' overall alliance effectiveness capability and to
oversee its alliances with Novartis, Alexion, Nastech, ARYx, sanofi-aventis,
Watson, and Noven. Earlier this year, Tom and P&G were awarded the 2007
Alliance Program Excellence Award from the renowned Association of Strategic
Alliance Professionals (ASAP).
