Investing In Green Tech

McGuinty Government Supports Roxul Plant Expansion, New Jobs

    TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ -

The Ontario government is helping create up to 100 new green-tech jobs by
supporting the expansion of the Roxul manufacturing facility in Milton.
Roxul Insulation makes environmentally-friendly wool insulation using
basalt rock and recycled byproducts of steel production. The 700,000 square
foot expansion will triple the company's production capacity.
Construction of the new plant began two years ago and was made possible
through a McGuinty government loan of $10 million. The loan was made through
Ontario's Advanced Manufacturing Investment Strategy (AMIS). Roxul's parent
company, Rockwool, invested $93.7 million in the project.

"We're supporting innovative Ontario businesses that help us live more
sustainably, contribute to the new green economy and create jobs for Ontario
    - Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario

    - The Milton plant will recycle all waste products, reuse water and
        deliver zero waste to landfill.

    - The plant is among the most advanced of the 23 facilities
Denmark-based parent company Rockwool operates worldwide.

    - Since 2005, AMIS has made $100 million in loans to 18 Ontario
companies, leveraging $890 million in new investment and creating and
        supporting 4,000 Ontario jobs.
