Inukshuk Wireless announces launch of 2008 Calls for Proposals

    Approximately $2.4 million of funds available across Canada for
    innovative and creative proposals to enhance Internet learning content
    and connectivity

    MONTREAL, Jan. 7 /CNW/ - Inukshuk Wireless today announced the launch of
its 2008 Calls for Proposals in its 10 licensed service areas: Alberta,
British Columbia, Eastern Ontario and Outaouais, New Brunswick, Newfoundland
and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Québec and Yukon. On
a national basis, the amount of funding available under this year's Calls is
approximately $2.4 million. The funding is part of Inukshuk Wireless's
commitment to invest annually to promote learning in each of its licensed
    The Inukshuk Wireless Learning Plan aims to meet the needs for on-line
learning in three specific areas: Connectedness, Content and Continuity.
    Applicants are invited to submit proposals that focus on either content
or connectivity related to learning and the Internet. Content proposals are
welcome for innovative and creative projects to develop multimedia and
feature-rich learning content, applications or learning environments for
Canada's learning communities. Applications are also encouraged for
connectivity projects, which will result in the provision of broadband
wireless Internet access to unserved and underserved communities.
    "The continuing success of the Learning Plan, with high quality projects
both in the Content and Connectivity areas, highlights the collective efforts
of Inukshuk Wireless and the Learning Plan Advisory Committees throughout our
licensed areas", said Don Falle, General Manager, Inukshuk Wireless.
    "In 2007, the Inukshuk Fund commitment to connectivity projects will help
several rural communities throughout our license areas receive broadband
wireless access to the home and provide learners with the ability to access
e-learning resources.

from the past successes of the Learning Plan and continue to provide for high
quality interactive learning content and new and innovative connectivity
