REACH program gets top grades with Association of Christian Schools
REGINA, July 25 /CNW/ - Western Christian High School's REACH program has
been selected as an Exemplary School Program for the 2008-2009 school year by
Association of Christian Schools International. Over 140 programs were
considered by the ACSI, which serves over 5,300 member schools in
approximately 100 countries with over 1 million student enrollment. Programs
and services are designed to assist Christian schools at every grade level
including early education and higher education. ACSI is a nonprofit
organization governed by an Executive Board elected by member schools.
Through the REACH program, just entering its fourth year, disadvantaged
students are given an opportunity to reach beyond what is presently available
to them. With help from community sponsors, Western Christian High School pays
all school expenses including tuition, activity fees, books, uniforms, bus
passes, meal pass and sport fees. The success of the REACH program is achieved
through student mentors and offering a safe and secure environment which
provides students new opportunities to grow intellectually, physically,
emotionally and spiritually. It also provides student community services
opportunities to develop work skills and responsibilities.
For over 62 years, Western Christian High School has operated both High
School and College programs. In its fourth and largest location since its
inception, the school has roots in Radville and Weyburn, Saskatchewan;
Dauphin, Manitoba; and more recently, Regina, Saskatchewan. Current facilities
include a 1,000 seat auditorium and banqueting capability for over 500, plus
the second largest gymnasium in Regina. In addition to one- and four-year
college programs, Western Christian offers high school programs in a safe,
secure and caring atmosphere with an emphasis on personal growth and maturity.
The mission is to integrate spiritual formation and Christian values into all
aspects of academics, athletics, arts and campus life.
The school motto is "Changing lives one student at a time."
