Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published an announcement urging
consumers to stop using certain Simplicity brand drop side cribs manufactured
by Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pennsylvania, due to a possible entrapment and
Due to sizing problems with the crib's hardware, the drop side can come
off the tracks. When the drop side detaches or partially detaches, it creates
a dangerous gap, which can lead to infant entrapment and suffocation.
There have been no incidents reported in Canada.
In Canada, this Safety Advisory affects only Simplicity Crib N Changer
Combo Model # 8994WC, manufactured in CHINA. The affected drop side cribs have
a date code, which ends in GB or DH (examples: 0507GB or 1806DH). The date
code can be found on a label on the headboard under the mattress support. The
brand name "Simplicity" can be seen on the label on the headboard. Simplicity
Crib N Changer Combo cribs that were not manufactured in China are not
affected by this advisory.
The affected Simplicity Crib N Changer Combo cribs were sold by Zellers
nationwide and by an independent Quebec retailer from June 2005 through
