Canada's national wish granter salutes those moms who make a difference
PICKERING, ON, May 7 /CNW/ - Every day mothers across Canada are making a
difference in the lives of their children. Every day somewhere in Canada,
wishes are coming true for nearly three Canadian children, each diagnosed with
a life-threatening illness, due in great part to the incredible efforts of the
mothers of wish children.
In celebration of their efforts and with Mother's Day on May 10, The
Children's Wish Foundation of Canada is saluting these heroic women - from
communities large and small - who make such an incredible difference in the
lives of their children and families, especially during the most difficult of
"Behind every wish child is a Wish Mom who often is the silent hero,"
says Chris Kotsopoulos, Executive Director, The Children's Wish Foundation of
Canada. "By working together with these mothers - the ones who know their
children the best - Children's Wish is able to help provide these wonderful
kids with the opportunity to realize one of their most heartfelt wishes - and
often being something they want to share with their families."
This year, the Foundation expects to grant 1,000 wishes as it celebrates
its 25th anniversary in 2009 and one of these will be the Foundation's
15,000th wish since its inception.
