IKEA Canada Officially Opens its First Pick-Up and Order Point in Québec City, QC

Making IKEA more accessible to Canadians

BURLINGTON, ON, Dec. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - IKEA Canada announced today that the first Pick-Up and Order Point in the country is now open for business in Québec City, QC. Located at 3111 Avenue Watt, the 3,675 square metre (39,554 square feet) location allows customers who have shopped online or at an IKEA store to pick up their products closer to where they live. Customers are also able to buy services to support their purchases, sit at a computer station to browse the range online, as well have access to 99 of some of the most popular IKEA products available for immediate takeaway.

IKEA currently has 12 stores across Canada, an eCommerce virtual store, a London, Ontario Pick-Up and Order Point opening tomorrow, as well recently announced Pick-Up and Order Points in Kitchener, St. Catharines, Whitby and Windsor, Ontario. The company sees growth potential in opening Pick-Up and Order Points, whose format is part of a global test pilot in markets where there are currently no stores, and will ensure IKEA is accessible to more people, faster.

"We are very excited to be opening our very first Pick-Up and Order Point here in Québec City," said Stefan Sjöstrand, President, IKEA Canada. "This Pick-Up and Order Point location allows us to be more accessible to our customers here and provide them with a more convenient shopping experience."

Québec City consumers now have the opportunity to interact with the IKEA brand in smart, new and convenient ways. The Pick-Up and Order Point location, which is one-tenth the size of a store, will reduce delivery times and costs for customers at the same time as delivering inspiration and services. The location features a home furnishing inspiration area as well as stations to support customers with their planning process.

"The arrival of IKEA is important for Québec City's retail landscape, and further demonstrates the strength of our economy, which is showing an unemployment rate of almost zero," declared Québec City mayor Régis Labeaume. "Residents in the Greater Québec City area and throughout Eastern Québec proudly welcome IKEA as they see their dream become a reality with this official opening, just in time for the holiday season."

IKEA has hired 30 co-workers to support the new Pick-Up and Order Point. Co-workers have been welcomed into an engaging environment with a strong focus on people and their professional growth.
