IIAC Launches Third Annual Future Leader Scholarship Award

TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2011 /CNW/ - The Investment Industry Association of Canada (IIAC) will be recognizing an aspiring industry "Future Leader" in the third annual IIAC Future Leader Scholarship Award competition, running from September 15th to December 15th, 2011 and presented by CSI Global Education Inc.

"The IIAC Future Leadership Award is presented to an employee of one of our member firms who demonstrates leadership and success in his or her professional career, commitment to the community and Canadian securities industry through involvement in the Association," said Ian Russell, President and CEO, IIAC. "Recent winners have enjoyed a high reputation and profile for professional achievement and integrity, and for contributing to their communities."

The Award recipient will receive funding to attend one session of SIFMA's education program, the Securities Industry Institute (SII), at the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia in March 2012. The prize includes cost of tuition, transportation to and from Philadelphia, accommodation during the trip and $1,000 cash - a total prize value of approximately $10,000. The award is sponsored by CSI Global Education Inc.

"We are proud to be associated with this prestigious award," said Marc Flynn, Vice President, Regulatory Relations and Academic Standards, CSI Global Education Inc. "Not only is it aligned with our goal of helping business professionals achieve their career ambitions, but it also represents a positive initiative within the financial sector."

The SII course is a leadership and management education program which examines the current thinking in economics, finance, management, marketing, professional development and operations. It runs from March 4th to 9th, 2012.

Last year's winner was Quentin Broad, Managing Director, Head of Equity Research, CIBC World Markets Inc. "It is clear why Wharton has consistently been at the top of its class in delivering a business education and I am extremely pleased that the IIAC chose me as the 2010 Scholarship winner for the securities program," said Broad. "The prestigious IIAC Scholarship immersed me in a classroom with some of the brightest minds in academia and as importantly from the securities industry. It provided me with a tremendous opportunity to learn from the best and the brightest, further honing my leadership and technical skills."

Applicants must be a full time employee of an IIAC member firm and be employed by an IIAC member firm at the time the course is offered in March 2012. All applications must be submitted to IIAC via email at membership@iiac.ca by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011.
