IDC X-Series DR system selected for use in leading edge RSA clinical trial application

Halifax Biomedical will Integrate IDC's X1590 into the First Standardized
    Digital RSA Solution

CALGARY, Feb. 28 /CNW/ - IDC (Imaging Dynamics Company Ltd.) (TSX: IDL),
the global leader in digital radiography (DR) for image quality and value,
today announced that Halifax Biomedical has selected IDC's X1590 as the DR
component for an imaging product suite currently under development for
conducting orthopaedic clinical trials for Roentgen Steriophotogrametric
Analysis (RSA). Under a Canadian federal grant, Halifax Biomedical will
interface its calibration technology with IDC's DR system and analytical
software from Medis Specials of Holland to create the first standardized,
fully digital RSA suite. The system will measure the stability of orthopaedic
implants to a fraction of a millimeter and will be exhibited in the IDC booth
No.5430 at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) conference
being held in San Francisco, March 5 - 7, 2008.
"We carefully evaluated every available digital radiography system and
only IDC technology could meet our rigorous requirements," said Chad Munro,
President of Halifax Biomedical. He added, "IDC's X-Series clearly contains
the best technology for this type of precise, specialized application."
Halifax Biomedical delivers specialized contract research services and
develops RSA-related imaging equipment for orthopaedic clinical trials. The
product suite currently under development is designed to measure the stability
of orthopaedic implants. Identifying the migration of implants into bone can
be predictive of future failure of the implant due to aseptic loosening. RSA
is also useful in assessing spinal fusion and fracture healing. Results from
the first test of the product suite are expected to be available by the end of
March, 2008. This test will be the backbone that allows expansion to a larger
clinical network that will allow remote collaboration on standardized imaging
"IDC continues to demonstrate its devotion to the orthopaedic healthcare
market. This application illustrates that IDC DR technology meets the most
stringent demands for image quality, accuracy and versatility," said Rick
Sbordone, IDC Senior Vice President, N.A. Sales. "We are pleased to partner
with Halifax Biomedical and break new ground in orthopaedic post-surgical
follow-up care."

    About IDC

IDC (Imaging Dynamics Company) is a medical technology company and
innovative force in the fast-growing field of digital radiography (DR)
technology. IDC's X-Series of direct capture technology replaces conventional
film-based X-rays and provides a cost-effective alternative to cassette based
film or computed radiography (CR) systems.
Each IDC DR solution provides high resolution radiographic images in the
digital format required for today's electronic medical record networks, all
without the use of film, environmentally harmful chemicals, cassettes or
expensive imaging plates. In addition to its number one ranking for three
consecutive quarters for customer service by MD Buyline, IDC is the recipient
of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award and is among the 2007
Deloitte Technology Fast 500, which ranks the fastest growing technology,
