MONTREAL, June 16, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec congratulates eight
companies on their exemplary energy efficiency achievements. Four of
them are already members of the Energy Savers' Circle and have
distinguished themselves particularly through their outstanding
commitment, confirming their status as energy efficiency ambassadors by
moving up to the Élite level.

companies become more competitive while at the same time contributing
to more responsible management of our planet's resources," said

Alcoa's Baie-Comeau aluminum smelter reduced its annual electricity
consumption by more than 71 GWh.
The Sun Life Building cut its annual electricity consumption by more
Place Dupuis and 888 De Maisonneuve Est reduced their annual electricity
consumption by 18%.
SGL Canada Inc. cut its annual electricity consumption by close to 13%.
Alcoa's Deschambault aluminum smelter reduced its annual electricity
consumption by more than 300 GWh.
IBM Canada's Bromont plant cut its annual electricity consumption by
Rio Tinto Alcan reduced its annual electricity consumption by more than
Université de Sherbrooke cut its annual electricity consumption by 22%.
Set up in 2005, the Energy Savers' Circle now numbers over 50 members,
all leaders in the field of energy efficiency. The circle brings
together Hydro-Québec's large-power customers that have reduced their
use of electricity by at least 5% or saved at least 50 million kWh. To

Since 2003, major customers have carried out 855 energy efficiency
projects under Hydro-Québec's programs. Their electricity savings total
over 1.5 TWh, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of more
than 90,000 households.
