Hudak Must Fire Candidates and Apologize to Ontarians

TORONTO, Sept. 12, 2011 /CNW/ - Four days ago, Alan Wilson, Tim Hudak's hand-picked candidate in Peterborough said that he was only interested in "our own people."

Three days ago, Jane McKenna, Tim Hudak's hand-picked candidate in Burlington asked "when did we become for immigrants?"

Instead of repudiating these statements and firing these two candidates, Tim Hudak has chosen to endorse them, attending a campaign rally in Peterborough on Thursday evening and joining a tele-townhall on Sunday with McKenna.

Tim Hudak's lack of leadership has gone on long enough. It's time for him to fire these two candidates and apologize to the millions of Ontarians who have immigrated to Canada and deserve better than the disgusting and desperate rhetoric being put out by the Hudak PCs.

"This is the politics of fear, anger, envy and resentment, and Ontarians deserve better than that. Tim Hudak needs to step up and fire these candidates, so we can move past this sad episode."

      -Linda Jeffrey, Liberal Candidate (Brampton-Springdale)
