Holiday March to a Million - Canadians Help AIR MILES Give Back

AIR MILES Teams up with Kids Help Phone, Food Banks Canada,
and the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish

TORONTO, Nov. 23, 2011 /CNW/ - With the holiday season approaching, charities are looking for support of every kind and need it more than ever.  As recently reported through the Globe and Mail, charity donations by Canadians are at an all-time low. This means charities need to find new and innovative ways to break through the clutter to find their much needed donations.  Giving back to the community has always been a cornerstone of the AIR MILES Reward Program, and this holiday season AIR MILES is doing its part by teaming up with Kids Help Phone, Food Banks Canada and the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish on a unique social media initiative.  The Holiday March To A Million will allow AIR MILES Collectors to help AIR MILES make a difference for three very important charities.

"Social media channels like Twitter and Facebook are an important means of communication for our Collectors, and a great way for charities to break through the cluttered holiday season," says Neil Everett, Chief Marketing Officer, AIR MILES Reward Program. "The Holiday March To A Million Facebook campaign is a unique way for Canadians to make a difference. We want every one of our Collectors to help us decide how to donate one million miles!"

The Holiday March To A Million is a unique charity campaign launched by the AIR MILES Reward Program in an effort to help these charities build awareness of their cause and increase donations during such an important time of year.  Up until December 24, 2011, all Canadians are encouraged to visit and vote for their charity of choice: Kids Help Phone, Food Banks Canada, or the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. Each vote will be matched by AIR MILES with one reward mile. In addition, at every 50,000 votes generated, one lucky AIR MILES Collector will be awarded 5,000 reward miles, and so will their charity of choice.   At the end of the campaign, the charity with the most votes will receive a donation of one million AIR MILES reward miles.

AIR MILES wants Canadians to help spread the word by extending the invitation and encouraging their friends and family to do the following:

  • Like the AIR MILES Canada Facebook Page
  • Vote for one of the three charities and help AIR MILES award one charity with one million AIR MILES reward miles
  • Share the news of the Holiday March To A Million campaign through word of mouth and through their own Facebook page and Twitter accounts
