Hockey shoot-out puts more than $1.3 million up for grabs

Old Dutch Foods contest winners could Net a Million at the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup

TORONTO, May 24, 2011 /CNW/ - On May 29, 2011, hockey fans from across Canada will be on the edge of their seats as Old Dutch® Potato Chips, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and Rogers Sportsnet give three lucky contestants the chance to net up to $1 million at the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

Almost 40,000 potato chip lovers entered to win one of three trips for two to Mississauga, Ontario, for the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The three contestants will take part in an on-ice shootout, featured live on Rogers Sportsnet during the second intermission of the final game on Sunday, May 29, 2011.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer this contest for hockey fans all over Canada as a part of our incredible partnership with the CHL," says Scott Kelemen, National Director of Marketing for Old Dutch Foods. "Anyone who saw the Net a Million shoot-out last year will remember the unbelievable excitement around the event. It's really an honour to be able to engage communities in this way."

Shooting positions will be randomly chosen just before the contestants hit the ice to compete. The first contestant will play for $100,000, shooting from the closest blue line, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 20 seconds. The second contestant will play for $250,000, shooting from centre ice, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 22 seconds. The third contestant will play for $1,000,000, shooting from the far blue line, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 24 seconds.

And to make sure no one goes home empty-handed, Old Dutch will give contestants $500 for each goal scored short of the 16 required for the big money, in addition to a $5,000 gift card for The Brick. Old Dutch also awarded an additional trip for two to one lucky Facebook fan to attend the final game and step in if any of the contestants cannot participate in the on-ice challenge.

Hockey fans are invited to join the conversation at and cheer on the contests trying to Net a Million.
