Old Dutch Foods contest winners could Net a Million at the 2011
MasterCard Memorial Cup
TORONTO, May 24, 2011 /CNW/ - On May 29, 2011, hockey fans from across
Canada will be on the edge of their seats as Old Dutch® Potato Chips, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and Rogers Sportsnet give
three lucky contestants the chance to net up to $1 million at the 2011
MasterCard Memorial Cup.
Almost 40,000 potato chip lovers entered to win one of three trips for
two to Mississauga, Ontario, for the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The
three contestants will take part in an on-ice shootout, featured live
on Rogers Sportsnet during the second intermission of the final game on
Sunday, May 29, 2011.
"We're thrilled to be able to offer this contest for hockey fans all
over Canada as a part of our incredible partnership with the CHL," says
Scott Kelemen, National Director of Marketing for Old Dutch Foods.
"Anyone who saw the Net a Million shoot-out last year will remember the
unbelievable excitement around the event. It's really an honour to be
able to engage communities in this way."
Shooting positions will be randomly chosen just before the contestants
hit the ice to compete. The first contestant will play for $100,000,
shooting from the closest blue line, trying to score 16 goals out of 20
pucks in 20 seconds. The second contestant will play for $250,000,
shooting from centre ice, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in
22 seconds. The third contestant will play for $1,000,000, shooting
from the far blue line, trying to score 16 goals out of 20 pucks in 24
And to make sure no one goes home empty-handed, Old Dutch will give
contestants $500 for each goal scored short of the 16 required for the
big money, in addition to a $5,000 gift card for The Brick. Old Dutch
also awarded an additional trip for two to one lucky Facebook fan to
attend the final game and step in if any of the contestants cannot
participate in the on-ice challenge.
