H&K Election Predictor puts power of prediction into hands of Canadians for 2008 Federal Election

Hill & Knowlton Canada builds on the success of its one-of-a-kind
election predictor franchise with a new mobile-friendly version for the
    2008 federal election: http://predictor.hillandknowlton.ca

TORONTO, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - As digital technology continues to transform the
North American political landscape, Hill & Knowlton Canada is proud to launch
the 2008 version of its easy-to-use, interactive and entertaining online seat
prediction tool (http://predictor.hillandknowlton.ca).
With a streamlined layout and a new site designed for mobile access, the
2008 Election Predictor is designed for political enthusiasts of all stripes
to test their projections, track how changes in popular support might
translate into who wins and who loses on election night, and enrich their
election punditry. From the convenience of their mobile device, or from the
comfort of their desktop or laptop, and for the duration of the campaign,
political junkies from across Canada (and worldwide) can view the outcomes of
their predictions down to the riding level. The Election Predictor also
provides users with the unique ability to apply split or swing predictions and
easily share their predictions with friends. In 2008, and for the first time,
Hill & Knowlton is also offering the Election Predictor on an easy-to-use
mobile platform at http://www.mobilepredictor.ca. "Since launching in 2004,
H&K's Election Predictor franchise, which has been used in Ontario, Quebec,
Alberta and previous federal elections, has served as a compelling
representation of the successful integration of H&K's digital expertise and
public affairs acumen," said Ken Boessenkool, Hill & Knowlton's National
Practice Director, Public Affairs. "We're excited about providing Canadians
with tools to help them become more engaged in the political process."
"Canadians are becoming increasingly politically-savvy and
hyper-connected, and enjoy exchanging views on politics with friends, family
and co-workers, both online and offline," added Brendan Hodgson, Hill &
Knowlton's National Digital Practice Director. "The Election Predictor goes
beyond the polls to help Canadians immediately see how shifts in voting
patterns might impact the election outcome - nationally, regionally, and in
their individual ridings." H&K's Election Predictor, the first and only of its
kind in Canada, uses proportional shift to generate seat predictions. Each
party's percentage of popular vote is compared against the results of the 2006
election on are distributed riding-by-riding basis. The percentage difference
is then either added or subtracted from the previous result each party
achieved in that riding. While no seat calculator will ever give a 100%
accurate prediction, H&K's Election Predictor is a fun and interactive way for
people to weigh in with their own seat predictions.
