The Government of Canada awards $50,000 in funding to this Montreal startup company
MONTREAL, Oct. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
David Lametti, Member of Parliament for LaSalle‒Émard‒Verdun and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, announced that eNuvio, a highly innovative company, will receive $50,000 in funding, in the form of a repayable contribution, to support its startup.
Created in 2016 by three young PhD students, eNuvio Inc. is a startup company that designs and develops lab-on-a-chip technologies used in life science research and drug development. After its incubation at Centech (Centre de l'entrepreneurship technologique), eNuvio is now launching its production out of Complexe Dompark. The funding granted through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program will allow eNuvio to acquire and install its clean room equipment.
The Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative Canadian businesses. A driving force of the economy, innovation is the key to success because it generates growth that benefits both businesses and communities. This is why we are committed to ensuring that businesses are able to rely on adequate resources to create and market innovative products.
"By supporting eNuvio, the Government of Canada is reaffirming its commitment to support the creation of innovative businesses that create value and strengthen the sectors that drive Greater Montreal, notably the life sciences sector. I am proud to see that the genius of these three young entrepreneurs will be able to continue taking root, developing and contributing to the health of the Canadian economy."
David Lametti, MP for LaSalle—Émard—Verdun and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development
"Through its Innovation and Skills Plan, the Government of Canada has introduced an ambitious approach to support innovative Canadian businesses that are coming up with new ways of creating value, and which are looking to capture new markets. This represents a firm commitment to the creation of sustainable jobs and to the prosperity of the community."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"We are entering into a very exciting period in eNuvio's development—an adventure that was hatched when Élise, Mark and I were PhD students. The device at the heart of the eNuvio technology could revolutionize the preclinical safety pharmacology industry. The Government of Canada's support will allow us to go ahead with our most inspired projects."
