PEFFERLAW, ON, April 13 /CNW/ - A high-risk fugitive from the United
Kingdom was arrested on an Immigration violation in the Pefferlaw area on
April 12th by members of the Immigration Task Force (ITF). Police and Canada
Border Services Agency officers with the Immigration Task Force, in
cooperation with the York Regional Police High Risk Offender Unit attended the
Pefferlaw area residence where it was believed the fugitive was residing. At
approximately 1645hrs, officers made the arrest without incident.
Arrested was George Robert GALLOWAY, 43 yrs, of the United Kingdom. He is
currently being held in custody on his Immigration matter. GALLOWAY is also
wanted by UK Authorities for Indecent Assault Against a Minor.
"Cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community is
essential in meeting the challenges of apprehending high-risk individuals who
pose a threat to our society. The arrest of these criminals, and their removal
from Canada, can only improve public and community safety." said RCMP Sgt.
Tony Gollob of the Immigration Task Force.
The ITF is composed of members from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police,
Canada Border Service Agency and Provincial ROPE members from the Ontario
Provincial Police and Toronto Police Service.
