High Grade Gold and Silver Mineralization together with Copper, Lead and Zinc Mineralization Intersected over 5,300 meter strike length at Coringa

    VANCOUVER, Aug. 30 /CNW/ - Chapleau Resources Ltd. (CHI: TSX-V) confirms
receipt of the remaining 12 holes of the 22 diamond drill hole (1,770.63 m)
program at the Coringa gold project (see website for location map -
www.chapleauresources.com and Table with summary of drill hole location,
inclination and length).
    Further to the results of the 10 holes previously reported on June 21,
2007, the remaining 12 holes have confirmed the Serra shear structure of 500 m
strike length and the Galena-Vessa-Boca to Onca shear structure of 4,800 m
strike length as being the two principal structures with very encouraging
gold, silver, lead, zinc and copper mineralization along them.

    
    Serra Shear Structure - 500 m

    -   Gold, silver, lead, zinc and copper mineralization has been confirmed
        over 500 m along the Serra structure with the best mineralized
        intersections being:

    DDH20 drilled 130 m northwest of DDH2 and 500 m northwest of DDH19
confirms the continuation of gold, lead, zinc and copper mineralization
associated with quartz veins/veinlets and sericite alteration within the
mineralized shear zone of between 1 and 2 m width of the Serra structure.
Mineralization is open to the northwest of DDH20 and also to the southeast of
DDH19.

    Galena-Vessa- Boca to Onça Shear Structure - 4,800 m

    -   High grade gold, silver, lead and zinc values have been confirmed
        along this 4,800 m shear zone associated with mineralized intervals
        of between 0.5 to 2.5 m in thickness and extending from DDH06 in the
        northwest to DDH13, 4,800 m in the southeast (see website for
        location map - www.chapleauresources.com). High grade mineralized
        intervals along the 4,800 m structure were intersected in:

    The intersection of high grade gold values in 8 of the initial 22 drill
holes in 2 structures extending over a total of 5.3 km of strike length is
regarded as highly encouraging. Coringa is approximately 100 km southeast of
the Palito Gold Mine of Serabi Mining plc. which is mining a vein structure
over a strike length of approximately 1,050 m and with an indicated mineral
resource as of January 2006 of 739,000 oz gold equivalent at 0 g/t gold
equivalent cut-off grade. Gold of 5.3 g/t and copper of 0.25 % were used for
this indicated mineral resource at the Palito Gold Mine.
    Significant base metal values are unusual within gold bearing structures
in the Tapajos Mineral Province of northern Brazil but Brazauro Resources
Corp. approximately 150 km to the northwest of Coringa has also noted both
chalcopyrite (copper iron sulphide) and galena (lead sulphide) associated with
the high grade gold mineralization at the Tocantinzinho project with an
indicated and inferred mineral resource as of December 2006 of 1.6 million
ounces of gold.
    Management is very pleased with the results of the first round drill
program at Coringa and is now planning a second round of drilling aimed at
further defining the lateral and down-dip extent of the high grade
mineralization at the Galena-Vessa-Boca-Jaura and Serra structures. Currently
a 30-line km geophysical IP (induced polarization) survey is being conducted
over the Galena-Vessa-Boca and Serra structures to assist in drill hole
locations for the above drill program. Recent reconnaissance work also
suggests the presence of other nearby structures which will be targeted during
the next phase of exploration.

    Drill holes were inclined at 50 degrees with a maximum of 115.45 m core
length. Core recovery for the mineralized intervals averaged greater than 95%.
The estimated true widths of all the mineralized intervals are approximately
90% of the intersected widths in the holes. Gold mineralization occurs within
silicified, quartz veined and sericite altered shear zones surrounded by
propylitic envelopes within granite, rhyolites and volcanic breccias.
Principal sulphide mineralization includes pyrite, galena, chalcopyrite and
sphalerite between 0.5% and 20.0%.
    Drill cores for assaying were taken at a minimum of 0.50 m and maximum of
1.00 m intervals. All core samples (HQ diameter) were cut with a diamond saw
and one-half of the core placed in bags, numbered and sealed then sent via a
secure transport agency to the Company's main office in Cuiaba in Brazil for
shipping directly to the SGS Geosol Laboratory in Belo Horizonte. The core
samples were then crushed down to 2 mm, a split of 250 to 300 g was taken and
pulverized to better than 95% minus 150 mesh. Gold analysis was by fire assay
of a 30 g sample and an atomic absorption finish. Silver and additional
32 elements using aqua regia acid digestion were analyzed by Inductively
Coupled Plasma (ICP). As part of the Company's QA/QC program duplicates,
blanks and internationally recognized standards were included in the sample
batches to check on assay precision and accuracy. SGS Geosol which is an ISO
9001: 2000 and ISO 14001: 2004 registered laboratory also has a quality
control program in place which includes standards and duplicates.
