HBO Canada gives Canadians exclusive access to the Obama Inaugural Celebration

     We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial
    will air on HBO Canada on Sunday, January 18 with a live broadcast at
    2:30 p.m. ET/MT and repeat presentation at 7 p.m. ET/MT, day-and-date
                         with the US broadcast on HBO

    TORONTO, Jan. 14 /CNW/ - HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Astral
Media's The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment's Movie Central is pleased
to announce that the opening celebration for the 56th Presidential Inaugural,
We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial will air
exclusively in Canada on Sunday, January 18 with a live broadcast at 2:30 p.m.
ET/MT and repeat presentation at 7 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada. In keeping with
HBO Canada's commitment to bringing Canadians more of HBO's renowned and
sought-after programming, this addition follows HBO's announcement to
exclusively televise this special event in the U.S.
    Taking place on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., the
event will be attended by President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect
Biden. In honour of the 56th Inaugural Celebration's spirit of national unity,
the event will be free and open to the public, kicking off the most inclusive
and accessible inauguration in history.
    Musical performers scheduled for the event include Beyoncé, Mary J.
Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Renée Fleming, Josh Groban, Herbie
Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, John Mellencamp,
Usher Raymond IV, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, and
Stevie Wonder. In addition, historical passages will be read by Jamie Foxx,
Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington, while Rt.
Reverend V. Gene Robinson will give the invocation. Additional performers will
be announced as they are confirmed.
    The event will be executive produced by George Stevens, Jr. (The Kennedy
Center Honors), and produced by Don Mischer (Olympic ceremonies), who will
also direct the special, and Michael Stevens (The American Film Institute
Salutes), who is also writing the special, and will be a production of The
Stevens Company in association with Don Mischer Productions.
    This special presentation will also premiere simultaneously in high
definition on HBO Canada HD and will also be available on The Movie Network
OnDemand and Movie Central On Demand the week following its premiere. The
special will also re-air on HBO Canada on Tuesday, January 20 at 1:15 p.m.
ET/MT and 8 p.m. ET/MT; Saturday, January 24 at 4 p.m. ET/MT; and Friday,
January 30 at 5 p.m. ET/MT.
    Following the 7 p.m. ET/MT broadcast of We Are One: The Obama Inaugural
Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, January 18, HBO Canada will
present the premiere of Big Love (Season 3) at 9 p.m. ET/MT and Flight of the
Conchords (Season 2) at 10 p.m. ET/MT.
