Hbc Rewards Customers For Shopping Green

TORONTO, Oct. 15 /CNW/ - In recognition of Waste Reduction Week in
Canada, Hudson's Bay Company (Hbc) today announced that is has launched a line
of five environmentally friendly, reusable shopping bags under its new Global
Mind brand. The bags are available in select stores with broader distribution
to all Hbc locations scheduled for November 1, 2007. Customers will receive
1,000 Hbc Rewards points when they purchase any of the Global Mind bags, and
100 points every time they use the bags while shopping at an Hbc store.
Hbc's Global Mind reusable shopping bags are part of the Company's
broader sustainability program. Hbc is committed to ensuring its stores and
operations are energy efficient and environmentally friendly through programs
such as:

    - Zero waste - Hbc's corporate head office located in downtown Toronto
is the first office tower in Canada to achieve the 'zero waste'

    - Enwave deep cooling - In 2005, Hbc was the first retailer to embrace

Bay to green energy for air conditioning, the new system uses 90 per
cent less electricity than conventional chillers.

    - Recycling at store level - In 2006, Hbc stores recycled 606 kg
(1,333 lb) of rechargeable batteries and cell phones.

    - Eco-friendly products such as Truly Ultra Cold Water Laundry
Detergent, ENERGY STAR qualified appliances and 100 per cent Organic
Cotton Men's Sweaters are available at the Bay and Zellers.

"Making a difference to the environment can be rewarding at Hbc," said
Robert Johnston, President, Hbc. "Our new line of Global Mind shopping bags
gives our customers the chance to make a difference and receive Hbc Reward
points while they do."
The bags are due in Bay, Zellers, Home Outfitters and Designer Depot
stores across Canada in mid-October. Customers can receive a maximum of 500
Hbc Rewards points for each shopping visit during which they use a Global Mind
bag to carry away their purchases.
