HBC Announces Passing of Jerry Zucker

    TORONTO, April 12 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of Hudson's Bay Company
(HBC) is saddened to announce the passing, earlier today, of its Governor and
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jerry Zucker after a battle with cancer. Mr.
Zucker is survived by his wife Anita Zucker, children Jonathan Zucker, Andrea
Muzin, and Jeffrey Zucker, and by grandchildren Stella Muzin and Jeremy
    Effective immediately, Anita Zucker will become Governor of HBC, making
her the first woman to hold that position in the Company's 338-year history.
Current HBC Deputy Governor and President Rob Johnston will become CEO. The
Board of Directors and executive teams remain otherwise unchanged.
    Mr. Zucker was a distinguished scientist, prolific inventor, and
visionary business leader who founded The InterTech Group, today one the
largest privately held corporations in the United States. In 2006, he acquired
the Hudson's Bay Company, the oldest commercial corporation in North America.
Together with his wife, Anita, he is renowned in South Carolina and beyond for
his philanthropic and community endeavors.

entities," said newly appointed Hbc Governor Anita Zucker. "We are confident

    HBC Deputy Governor, President and CEO Rob Johnston stated, "Our thoughts

communities for over 30 years, and it is therefore befitting that she be the
