Hastings-Prince Edward Elementary Teachers Ink Deal

TORONTO, April 22 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of
the Hastings-Prince Edward Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative collective agreement this
afternoon with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.
Hastings-Prince Edward is the thirteenth ETFO teacher local to approve a
four-year tentative agreement. Local occasional teachers ratified their
tentative agreement earlier this month.
"Our takeover team has been working around the clock and the results show
their efforts have paid off. We now have an agreement that provides real
progress on the issues our members told us were important for themselves and
for their students," said ETFO President David Clegg.
"We have a good deal for our members. It addresses the working conditions
and benefits they deserve," said Karen Fisk, President of the ETFO
Hastings-Prince Edward Teacher Local.
Details of the agreement will be available following a members'
ratification vote.
The Hastings-Prince Edward Teacher Local represents approximately 700
teachers. Their last contract expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
