    How to host a truly Canadian Canada Day bash

    TORONTO, June 29 /CNW/ - Every Canada Day Canadians across the country
gather together to celebrate this great nation. Whether it's throwing a family
BBQ, a neighbourhood block party or enjoying a picnic at the cottage, planning
a truly Canadian bash is easy with a couple of Canadiana entertaining tips.

    The Taste of Canada
    -   Toast Canada's birthday with a truly Canadian drink - the Caesar

    1 oz Amaro Montenegro Liqueur
    2 dashes hot sauce
    3 dashes each freshly ground salt and pepper
    4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
    Juice of one lime wedge, squeezed
    4 oz Mott's(*) Clamato(*) Original cocktail

    Preparation: Fill a highball glass with ice and pour in all ingredients.
    Stir well and garnish with an orange rind twist.

    2 oz India Pale Ale
    1-2 dashes hot sauce
    5 oz Mott's(*) Clamato(*) Original
    Ready-to-Drink Caesar

    Preparation: Fill a 12 oz beer glass or mug with ice. Add Mott's Clamato
    Original Ready-to-Drink Caesar and hot sauce then top with India Pale
    Ale. Garnish with a pepperoni stick and lime wheel.

    1 1/2 oz cachaca or silver tequila
    1/2 fresh clove of garlic
    1/2 fresh green onion (hollow stem portion)
    1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper
    (add seeds for additional heat)
    2 dashes each freshly ground salt and pepper
    1 dash hot sauce, to taste
    6 oz Mott's(*) Clamato(*) Original cocktail

    Preparation: Rim glass with freshly ground salt and pepper. Mince garlic,
    green onion and jalapeno pepper and drop into glass. Add dashes of salt
    and pepper and muddle lightly. Top with ice and add cachaca and Mott's
    Clamato cocktail. Mix thoroughly.

    2 oz Canadian whisky
    1 dash hot sauce
    2 dashes aromatic bitters
    6 oz Mott's(*) Clamato(*) Original cocktail
    6 fresh sage leaves

    Preparation: Rim double rim rocks glass with freshly ground salt and
    pepper. Place sage leaves in bottom of glass, add aromatic bitters and
    fill with ice. Add whisky, hot sauce and Mott's Clamato cocktail, and
    pour mixture back and forth 3 or 4 times using another glass, to release
    the flavour of the sage. Garnish with a skewer of two cherry tomatoes
    with a pearl onion, to resemble the Canadian flag, adding a fresh sage
    leaf for colour.

        Alberta beef, Canadian back bacon, fresh local produce, PEI potatoes

        cubes using food colouring and water

    Keeping Them Entertained
    -   Become an activist and join the campaign to make the Caesar Canada's
        national cocktail. Hold a Caesar rally in your backyard, serve a
        variety of Caesars and encourage your guests to sign the petition at
    -   Set up your own "Proud to be Canadian" play list including: the
        Tragically Hip, Sarah McLaughlin, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray,
        Nickelback, Avril Lavigne
    -   Have your friends over for a quick game of shinny and a BBQ - the
        hockey season may be finally over but nothing says Canada better
    -   Play 'Stump the Canadian." Challenge your friends to bring a unique
        question about Canada and find out who knows this great country the

    Canada Day Fashion
    -   Red and White is always welcome at Canada Day celebrations but you
        can mix it up by dressing up as your favourite Canadian Celebrity or
        Sports Figure (Shania Twain, Bob and Doug, Wayne Gretzky)
    -   Wear jerseys of your favourite Canadian sports team in the CFL, NHL
        or a local league
    -   A Caesar in hand is the perfect accessory to any Canada Day outfit
