Hallmark Canada and local high school students thank Canadian troops this Remembrance Day

TORONTO, Nov. 11, 2011 /CNW/ - Hallmark Canada is helping a local high school connect with Canadian troops in Afghanistan this Remembrance Day.   Mr. Blake Morrison, grade 12 teacher at Saint Christopher Catholic High School in Sarnia, was inspired by the Everyday Heroes greeting cards, one of Hallmark Canada's many greeting card lines and, as a result, asked his students to write letters to the Canadian troops now serving in Afghanistan.

"It is important for students to understand and appreciate all that our soldiers - both past and present - have done for our country," said Blake Morrison, grade 12 teacher at Saint Christopher Catholic High School.  "Sending these letters is a small but important gesture to express our gratitude and ensure these men and women know their heroic gestures have not gone unnoticed."

The Hallmark card collection, Everyday Heroes, features 28 designs to recognize personal heroes who have touched our lives in some way.  From Canadian RCMP to firefighters, doctors, coaches and mentors, these cards are also meant to inspire and encourage one another.  There are six specific Canadian Military designs along with Congratulations, Love, Appreciation, Miss You, Thinking of You and Blank captions.  Each card retails for $2.69 each.

"The Everyday Heroes greeting card line is a touching way to acknowledge an everyday hero," said Chris Kelly, Vice President Consumer Solutions & Brand Experience, Hallmark Canada.  "At Hallmark, we are encouraging Canadians to press pause and take a moment to celebrate one another. Whether a teacher, coach, solider or friend, these cards are meant to help Canadians connect and thank those special people who have touched our lives."

The Everyday Heroes greeting card line is available at Hallmark stores across Canada.  For more information, visit www.hallmarkcanada.ca.
