CALGARY and NEW YORK, June 27 /CNW/ - Guest-Tek Interactive
Entertainment, Ltd. ("Guest-Tek") (TSX:GTK) and Magnolia Pictures, the
distribution arm of Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban's 2929 Entertainment, and the
producers of such films as Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, The World's
Fastest Indian (starring Anthony Hopkins) and Lost City (Andy Garcia),
announced a multi-year carriage agreement to provide movies from Magnolia
Pictures for guests at hotels served by Guest-Tek's OneView Media
High-Definition Video-on-Demand ("HD-VOD") solution and legacy systems.
Guest-Tek is a preferred vendor of high-speed Internet access ("HSIA") to
major hotel brands, providing services including network design, procurement,
implementation, and post sales customer support to over 3,400 properties and
over 505,000 rooms. In addition to OneView Media HD-VOD and HSIA, Guest-Tek
provides high definition Internet protocol television, ("HD-IPTV"), standard
definition ("SD") video, and telephony services to selected customers. Hotel
guests in a Guest-Tek television environment will be able access special
"Sneak Peak" viewings of select Magnolia feature films to watch in HD or SD
before a single theatre ticket is sold. Hotel guests will also get to view
many more of Magnolia's eclectic slate of films and documentaries while still
in theatres. Guests can simply scroll to the "Exclusive Sneak Peek" option on
Guest-Tek's interactive menu in the hotel room to take advantage of this rare
"Sneak Peak" opportunity or one of the many other features released by
"We are very excited about this unique offering for hotel guests.
Magnolia Pictures have been at the forefront of movie distributors delivering
independent titles and know what audiences demand." said Arnon Levy, CEO of
Guest-Tek, "Magnolia helps Guest-Tek reach our global audience by serving
hoteliers with sneak-peek or day and date movies at an affordable low price."
"We are excited that Guest-Tek sees the future as we do." said Mark
Cuban. "Hotel guests want an experience that is better than what they can get
at home. More and more guests already have HD content in their homes and will
be disappointed with anything less from their hotel. With our "Sneak Peak"
approach to releasing films, we want to take the guest experience to another
level. We want each guest checking out of a Guest-Tek hotel talking about
their unique experiences, and getting to see films before they are in theatres
will definitely be something they talk about."
Guest-Tek's One View Media HD-VOD will feature a majority of the
available HD titles from Magnolia, one of the first distributors to license
HD-VOD titles. "The Host" will be launched in all of Guest-Tek's hotel
locations next month. In upcoming months, Guest-Tek intends to feature
Magnolia titles including Broken English (Parker Posey), Fay Grimm (Jeff
Goldblum), Flawless (Demi Mooregonzo), The Life and Times of Hunter S.
Thompson, (Nick Stahl, Vera Famiga), Redacted (Brian DePalma), and Weirdsville
(Scott Speedman, Taryn Manning and Wes Bentley).
