Greengate Power Corporation Receives Municipal Approval for 150MW Wintering Hills Wind Project

    CALGARY, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - Greengate Power Corporation ("Greengate") is
pleased to announce that it has received municipal approval from Wheatland
County for the construction of its 150MW Wintering Hills Wind Project in
Central Alberta. With the approval of this permit, Greengate has now received
municipal approvals for four of its Alberta wind projects totaling 700MW.
Greengate expects to begin construction on the 150MW Wintering Hills Wind
Project in 2010 or 2011. Once completed, this project will produce enough
power to provide clean wind-generated electricity to more than 50,000 Alberta
homes. Overall, Greengate's four approved Alberta projects totaling 700MW,
will produce enough power to provide clean wind-generated electricity to more
than 200,000 Alberta homes.
    "We are extremely pleased that Wheatland County has granted a permit for
the construction of our Wintering Hills project. We look forward to ongoing
dialogue with the county and the community as a whole, as we move closer to
the construction of this project," said Dan Balaban, President and CEO of

    Wind projects provide numerous benefits to the local communities where
they are built. For landowners, it provides an additional income stream which
helps to sustain the rural lifestyle. Landowners can continue to farm,
cultivate, and graze their land after wind projects are built. For the local

projects, which require a variety of skilled workers both during and after
construction. From a county perspective, wind projects are a massive
infrastructure investment, which significantly contribute to the tax base of
the counties in which these projects are built.
