TORONTO, Aug. 14 /CNW/ - The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO) today presented Adelina Cecchin (first vice-president) and Gary Osley
(president) of the Greater Essex Teacher Local, with the Newsletter Editor's
Award (single-sheet publication).
The award, which was presented at the federation's annual meeting in
Toronto, recognizes and rewards the outstanding work done by editors who have
created at least two issues of a local ETFO newsletter during the school year.
Award criteria include the content, quality, and general overall appearance of
the newsletter. Cecchin and Osley received the award for their newsletter for
the Greater Essex Teacher Local.
Published five times a year, the newsletter covers a variety of topics of
interest to members. Topics that have been discussed include ETFO policy,
collective agreement issues, grievance decisions, health and safety issues,
and board policy. The newsletter also contains detailed information about the
work of the local to ensure members are aware of the various committees and
the work that they undertake.
"This valuable communication tool ensures that all members of the local
are well informed of the latest developments within education," said Emily
Noble, ETFO president.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents more than
70,000 public elementary school teachers and education workers across Ontario
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
