Gowlings ranked as a global leader in M&A buyouts by mergermarket magazine

    TORONTO, Jan. 28 /CNW/ - Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (Gowlings) has
been ranked 12th overall in North American buyouts (value), and 18th overall
in global buyouts (value), by mergermarket magazine. The publication also
highlighted Gowlings for its key role in the second largest North American
deal of the year, the acquisition of BCE Inc. by Teachers Private Capital,
Providence Equity Partners Inc., and Madison Dearborn Partners LLC for
$51.7 billion.
    The rankings from mergermarket, an independent mergers and acquisitions
intelligence service, were published in its year-end league tables
highlighting transactions exceeding US$5 million that took place between
January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007.
