Google, RIM and Waterloo Region tech firms infiltrate Markham to attract tech talent

    WATERLOO REGION, ON, June 23 /CNW/ - Waterloo Region tech companies are
aggressively pursuing Markham's best and brightest with an offer to "get a
life" west of Toronto. Canada's fastest-growing tech cluster is on the hunt
for top talent, using print and radio advertising, billboards on tech commuter
routes, and hosting an event in the midst of the Markham tech community to
show off the thousands of opportunities available in Waterloo Region.

    The keynote speaker for the event is Ian Harrower, a software engineer
who's been working at Google Waterloo since October, 2007. Ian's principle
project is improving the Google AdWords Conversion Optimizer.
    The event features more than a dozen Waterloo Region-based tech companies
recruiting on-site, including: Agfa Health Care, Christie Digital Systems,
DALSA, Google Waterloo, Intelligent Mechatronic Systems, Open Text, Primal
Fusion, Research In Motion, Sandvine, and Tech Capital Partners, which
represents early-stage portfolio firms AideRSS, Avaning, Covarity, LiveHive
Systems,, Sidense Corp, Sirific Wireless, and Software Innovation.
