GOLDEN WEEKEND FOR JOHN MOLSON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Concordia University students win Jeux du Commerce and awards at Inter-Collegiate Business Competition

MONTREAL, Jan. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - The new year began on a high note for over 100 John Molson School of Business (JMSB) students at Concordia University. The students delivered winning performances at two different competitions. JMSB delegations were sent to two major North American competitions, Jeux du Commerce (JDC) held at the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management, and the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (ICBC) held at Queen's University. The students were crowned winners at JDC and won several awards at ICBC.

The 23rd edition of JDC brought together 1,200 students from 13 universities across Eastern Canada. JMSB students earned podium finishes in Finance, Strategy, Ethics, Stock Simulation, Accounting, Debate, Human Resources, International Business, and Hockey. The team also performed well in the social stream and was recognized with podium awards in the categories of Team Contribution, Committee of the Year, Participation, and Volunteer of the Year.

JMSB's winning streak continued simultaneously with glowing results at the 33rd edition of ICBC in Kingston, Ontario. The ICBC event, recognized as one of the most prestigious business competitions in North America, gathered 41 schools from across the world to compete in two rounds of intense competition. The 15 JMSB student participants successfully entered the second round in four of the seven academic disciplines of Accounting, Finance, HR and Marketing. The students' strong performance resulted in eligibility for the Debate category. To recognize the delegation's infectious team spirit, JMSB won the "Chairperson Award" for a second consecutive year.

"Our students' performance at both competitive events illustrates the quality of our academic programs and rich overall learning experience at JMSB", says Sanjay Sharma, Dean of JMSB. "The awards, Volunteer of the Year, Committee of The Year, Contribution and Participation at JDC, and the Chairperson's Spirit Award at ICBC, demonstrate the professionalism and sportsmanship of JMSB students. I am proud of their latest achievements."
