Golden Band Resources Inc. - Initial drill results from Decade gold mine - Drilling ongoing

SASKATOON, Feb. 7 /CNW/ - Golden Band Resources Inc. (GBN:TSXV) announced
today the assay results from an initial drilling program completed in November
2007 on the Company's 100%-owned Decade gold deposit located in the La Ronge
Gold Belt of Saskatchewan. A second phase of drilling is currently underway.
The following table summarizes the assay highlights and Figure 1 shows the
locations of the drillhole pierce points in a longitudinal section view.

"These initial results from this new target for Golden Band are extremely
encouraging because they confirm that high-grade gold mineralization exists
close to the Jolu Mill and that the existing underground development could
potentially be rehabilitated to allow access to this mineralization which
could serve as possible future mill feed," stated Frank Hrdy, Golden Band's
Vice President of Exploration.
This drilling program confirms the continuation below the existing
underground development at Decade of shallow, high-grade gold mineralization
that is still open along strike and to depth. A new zone (named here as the HW
Zone) was also intersected near the top of several of the drillholes and may
represent the near-surface portion of a parallel shear-hosted gold zone that
may be open along strike and to depth. Further drilling is warranted to test
The over 350,000 ounces of gold production from the Decade/Jolu, Star
Lake, and Jasper mines, and several related occurrences, make up the highest
concentration of shear-hosted quartz vein-hosted gold deposits in the La Ronge
Gold Belt. The gold mineralization in this part of the La Ronge gold belt has
typically been higher grade and these results show that this area and some of
the historic gold mines in this area may host additional resources.
The former Decade mine workings are only 275 metres from the Company's
Jolu gold mill, and 600 metres from the former Jolu gold mine, all 100%-owned
by Golden Band. Golden Band plans to re-start gold production in the La Ronge
gold belt using its Jolu mill and the potential availability of nearby and
shallow, high-grade gold resources is a very attractive, near-term exploration
target. In addition to small-scale gold production (40 tpd) in the 1970's, ore
from Decade was milled with production from the Jolu mine in 1990-1.
These new drill results also demonstrate our exploration team's
capabilities in being able to review and compile existing information and
successfully find new targets and gold mineralization. Ongoing reviews of the
Company's large database that consolidates the smaller land holdings of
previous companies shows many historical exploration targets have not been
followed-up in the Jolu area, often because of the constraints caused by the
smaller land holdings of previous owners.
A recently completed expanded geological data recompilation by Golden
Band of the historical Decade mine workings and drillhole databases indicates
that a shallow, high-grade gold zone may also exist just north of the former
underground mine workings.
The fall 2007 drilling program consisted of 10 diamond-drill holes
(NQ-diameter) totalling 1,599 m. Drillhole spacings were typically 12.5 to 25
m. Several of the more interesting targets were not drilled during the fall
program because the drill setups were inaccessible before freeze-up. The
winter drill program now underway will complete these holes as well as test
for shallow, high-grade gold zones just north of the former Decade mine
workings (see Company press release dated January 21, 2008).
All of the core samples from this program were sent to TSL Laboratories
in Saskatoon, an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited facility. Standard fire assay with
an AA finish was performed on all of the samples, and the "screened metallic"
assay method with a gravimetric finish was performed on 28 samples that were
thought to contain nuggety gold. When available, the "screened metallic"
assays are used when reporting these results. The quality assurance/quality
control of the fire assay data was monitored by sample standards and sample
blanks which were routinely inserted into the sample sequences.

    About Golden Band

Golden Band Resources, already Saskatchewan's leading gold explorer, is
now poised to also become a gold producer. Golden Band is a well-financed,
Saskatchewan-based, publicly listed company (GBN:TSXV) whose focus is the
long-term, systematic exploration and development of its 100%-owned La Ronge
Gold Belt properties. Since 1994, Golden Band has assembled through staking
and strategic acquisition a land package of more than 750 km(2), including ten
known gold deposits, four former producing mines, and a licensed gold mill.
Golden Band's key value drivers are the methodical and systematic targeting of
primary to advanced-stage exploration while progressing along a parallel path
to becoming a sustainable gold producer. The Company is aggressively pursuing
its near-term goal for the development and production of its 100%-owned Bingo,
Komis, and EP deposits with processing at the 100%-owned Jolu mill - a project
that received a positive Preliminary Economic Assessment (scoping study) on
April 19, 2007. Longer-term objectives include production from the Company's
other deposits and the continuation of its highly successful exploration and
acquisition strategy.
